Hosted by Amy Nelson, Ancois Nelson with guest Kā (Storm Willow Hartley)
What happens
Kā (Storm Willow Hartley), a Berlin-based artist and DJ, brings a shamanic sound and music journey to Fruition House. Amy and Ancois Nelson hold the ceremony around it.
Amy guides the dance through the evolution of life. You start lying down with your eyes closed, as a single-celled organism, and move up through the forms of life to the ecstatic embodiment of all of it. From there the dance opens into wild, free movement, where your untamed energy gets room. The closing is a meditation with the parts of yourself you met while dancing. Afterwards there’s food, and you’re welcome to keep dancing with us into the night.
Why sound and dance
Bodies respond to sound directly. Music takes people to goosebumps and to tears. Dance has a long place in medicine work, and among the First Nations people of South Africa, shaking medicine means dancing into trance states. This event grows from that same connection with nature, music and sound. You’ll feel the bass move through your body.
What do we mean by sensual?
We use the word in two ways. The first is sensory: a full, heightened, pleasurable experience through all the senses. The second is eros in its energetic form, the creative and connective energy that moves through a body and between people.
Frequently asked questions
What if I’m not good at dancing?
The format suits people who feel disconnected from dance and from their bodies. You can move however you like, with your eyes closed. If all you want to do is lie on the floor and flick your fingers, that is your dance. If you’d rather be a wild boar or a snake, go ahead and play.
Can I come if I’m not very shamanic?
Yes. This space is a playground for exploring how the sound makes you feel and how your body wants to move. Nothing spiritual is required, only a willingness to explore.
What if I struggle with taking on other people’s energy?
The opening ceremony supports everyone in placing energetic boundaries. If you’re particularly sensitive, we’ll offer care and support throughout.
Do I need to take medicine?
No. Sacred medicine is optional. Contact us before the day and we’ll talk you through how it’s held.
What if I’m nervous about joining an event like this?
Our events go deep and they are also beginner friendly. You’re welcome to book a call with any questions before you decide.
The evening
We begin with a ceremony of grounding and honouring. We create a safe ceremonial container and space for our ancestors.
For those who choose to, there will be a conscious consumption in ceremony and gathering. Details are below.
After the ceremony, we'll be guided into our music journey.
Your Participation
There's no pressure to take anything. Many come for the ceremony and dance alone, and that is complete and whole.
If you're interested in exploring a more active role in the ceremony, we work with conscious consumption offerings. These are available to choose when you book your ticket.
Your options
Cacao & Blue Lotus — ceremonial dose, relational and heart-opening
Cacao with Fungi — psilocybin-infused, for those seeking expansion
Cacao with Molly and Fungi — MDMA and psilocybin together, for heart and vision
CannaBlue — a cannabis and blue lotus preroll, for ease and flow
When you book, you'll select one or more (payment will be made on the day in cash on arrival).
What to Bring
Clothes you can move and sweat in
Something comfy, A yoga mat, sheep skin or blanket and cushion for lying down
Shoes come off at the door
The space
This is a queer, neurodivergent-supportive, nonmonogamous-affirming space for minority-group folks and allies. Consent-centred and trauma-informed. You can step out, change how you're taking part, or rest at any point. No performance.
The venue is not wheelchair accessible, and we're devastatingly aware of this gap. If you have access needs we haven't thought of, message us and we'll figure it out together.
There's no alcohol. Don't bring any other substances.
Food and drink
We'll have an alcohol free botanical bar and snacks to purchase, so you can stay nourished and grounded.
