About the event

Queer Temple for GBTQ Men*

Shamanic Temple and Francis Chouler are thrilled to return with the a second round of Queer Mens* Temple. Our first temple in July was a rich and nourishing evening fostering safety as a group and building the conditions for intimacy and connection.

Temple is a place of ritual and reverence. In these evenings we create the ‘temple’ collectively with our intention to connect

wholeheartedly, honour our own boundaries and those of the group. Together we receive the nourishment that arises out of this care and authenticity.

The evening is facilitated by Amy, Francis and Ancois who guide the group through a series of solo and partner practices that build safety and trust, strengthen our capacity to tune into our needs moment to moment, and help us to practice giving and receiving simple (clothed or semi-clothed) touch where it feels safe, good and wanted. Think of it as a laboratory for intimacy.

Before you buy a ticket, read this

This is a consent-centred, safety-positive space. Everyone who attends is vetted before they arrive — no exceptions.

To begin, please complete our vetting form and book a short curiosity call with us. Your ticket is only valid once you have been confirmed through that process. If you purchase a ticket before receiving confirmation, it will not be valid, and you will be refunded minus transaction costs.

WHAT YOU'LL GET FROM THIS EXPERIENCE

GBTQ men carry specific wounds, and meeting these with compassion and tenderness as a group, witnessing each other is powerful medicine. Many of us suppressed natural expressions of desire, not only sexual but simple affection, touch and intimacy out of fear for our safety. Hypersexuality and performance of our sexuality is a common response to those early years of suppression and to formative sexual experiences that didn’t always foreground safety and consent. As a consequence much of our erotic wiring is built on excitement around boundary crossing, elicit experience and longing for what we can’t have or will never get. Temple work offers gentle opportunities to unwind some of this patterning and foster a greater capacity for intimacy. When we are safe, we can relax, when we can relax we can experience greater pleasure, deeper intimacy and more love.

Some men opened our last temple saying they don’t feel safe around other men. By the end, many felt they had experienced safety among men for the first time. This is powerful, necessary work.

WHAT THESE NIGHTS ARE

The night is structured into group conversation, solo practice, partner exercises and some time where you can choose your own practices.

Somatically: We begin with the body, using breath and movement to build a foundation of embodiment and awareness.

Relationally: We practice making contact with ourselves first, and then, if and when it feels right, with others. Consensual partnered exercises create the conditions for genuine meeting: free of agenda and open to being present with the other as they are.

Psychologically: We make space for whatever comes up. Being as we are in front of another can bring up psychological material, we work with this consciously, with facilitator one-on-one support if needed.

Shamanically: We connect with ourselves as part of the Great Mystery, and explore our connection with the living world that we are part of. There are no forced beliefs. Shamanism encourages deep remembering and connecting to your innate wisdom.

Our queer-centric approach facilitates an exploration into conscious sexuality not limited by heteronormative assumptions. Here we find a deeper connection to self and through that a greater capacity for intimacy with another.

WHAT WE WORK WITH

Inside the temple, practices are facilitated. We will explore:

  • Cacao & Blue Lotus ceremony and opening circle, where we name what we're carrying and what we're curious about

  • Breathwork: using the breath to move energy, open sensation, and access states the ordinary mind rarely reaches alone

  • Somatic presence practices: learning to feel the body from the inside, rather than performing it for the outside

  • Gentle self-contact as a practice of coming home to yourself

  • Consensual partnered exercises: making contact with another person with full awareness, full consent, and no agenda

  • Options to sit out: all practices are invitations only, you remain the author of your experience, and can choose to sit any of the exercises out.

  • Open time - we end with some time to continue to explore contact and connection through a cuddle puddle, or choose time alone to integrate or bask in the afterglow or process some of your experience with one of the facilitators.

  • Closing circle: we gently close the evening inviting a few words of your experience to be shared with the group.

The practices offered remain an invitation. You are always the author of your own experience, you remain the author of your experience, and can choose to sit any of the exercises out.

WHAT IS LEVEL 1?

This evening is a Level 1 space. That means:

It is designed to support people who are new to conscious-sexuality or shamanic temple work. You do not need prior experience of anything. You do not need a practice, a lineage, or a vocabulary for this. You need only a body, a willingness to be honest, and enough curiosity to walk through the door.

Level 1 also means the practices are introduced slowly, with full explanation and full choice at every step. Nothing escalates without the room being ready. The facilitators hold the pace, and the pace is yours.

Nudity is welcome and explored, but absolutely not expected. Sensuality and erotic energy may arise, or may not, either is welcome. Explicit sexuality is not the focus at any point. You will never be asked to do anything. You will be invited, and you will decide.

WHO THIS IS FOR

  • Men and trans or non-binary people who feel drawn to the energy of this space

  • Queer people who want to experience sacred sexuality in this rare container

  • Those curious to expand their sexuality, intimacy and connection

  • People new to temple or conscious-sexuality work

  • Those carrying shame around their body, desire, or history, who are ready for some of that to soften

  • People who have felt out of place in conscious-sexuality spaces built on heteronormative assumptions

  • Those in any relationship structure: single, partnered, non-monogamous, chosen family

  • Neurodivergent people. We do our best to improve access

  • This is for you if you wish to tend the wounding around queerness and masculinity

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

  • People who are looking for a party or a hookup

  • People who aren't ready to be vulnerable

  • People who need to control what happens in a room

  • People who do not identify as queer in any sense

  • Those coming primarily to find sexual partners

  • Anyone unwilling to engage with our vetting process

  • Those in acute mental health crisis. We care about you, and this is not the right container right now. Feel free to contact Amy for individual support.

  • Anyone uncomfortable with the possibility of nudity or sensuality in a ritual space, even as a witness

  • Those with very active PTSD that feels overwhelming, or those who have recently experienced a severe stressor that may impede your capacity to safely manage yourself in a sexual space. You are welcome to reach out for specialised individual support to help you build capacity to safely be in spaces like this

Not sure? Reach out.

AM I QUEER?

If you are asking, you are probably welcome here.

Queer is not a fixed identity with a membership form. It is a word many people use to name their experience of being outside the dominant story — in their sexuality, their gender, their way of loving, or simply in how they move through the world. You do not need a label. You do not need to be out. You do not need certainty.

If something in you recognises this space and feels drawn to it, that recognition is enough. Send us a message if you want to talk it through.

Some Gay or Bi men do not identify as Queer, those men are welcome, hence our umbrella use of GBTQ
